I had to buy several items just to realize that Scrapbooking Sandylion was the best choice for the price all along. The only negatives I’ve found were that there are better units available, but they are more expensive and the reviews I found on them were on the negative side. So here’s my final word. I 100% endorse Scrapbooking Sandylion and will even show you some places to get it even cheaper than retail.
How do I scrapbook without it looking like scrapbooking?
I want to archive my track and Scrapbooking Sandylion field mementos—articles, ribbons, medals, etc. I hate the look, feel, and kitschy look of scrapbooking, but I want these pieces archived in a nice way. Any suggestions?

Here are some suggestions:1. Use the online scrapbooking site CropMom.com, where there’s no software to buy and no digital scrapbooking kits to buy. Just make your layout online using your photos and any of CropMom.com’s thousands of scrapbook graphics. You can purchase the high-resolution layouts for a small fee (or, better yet, purchase a package of layouts for less money) then you can print them anywhere you’d like.2. Adobe Photoshop Elements can be use to create digital scrapbook pages and is often used by beginneers who have advanced beyond CropMom. That said, there is a learning curve with learning how to use Photoshop Elements to create a digital scrapobok page, so be prepared to spend time learning how to do it.3. Corel Paint Shop Pro is harder to learn than Photoshop Elements but has more features. 4. Adobe Photoshop is the most powerful of all of the graphics software for digital scrapbooking but it is quite expensive and very difficult to learn.5. Microsoft Digital Image Pro used to be one of the choices for digital scrapbookers, but I am fairly certain it has been discontinued. That said, perhaps you even have a coyp of it at home if it came with a scanner or something, so I thought I’d mention it. Finally, both Corel and Adobe offer a free trial of their products, so make sure you test them out to see if you like them before spending the money on them. Also, I would suggest you try CropMom, too, since it’s free. That way, you’ll have a better feel for what’s out there.
first you would need a pretty scrapbook. If your only going to scrap book the Europe trip, then you probably wont need more pages, but if you do you can buy inserts. Then you would need to map out your book. What do you want on the first page? Second? on and on. Once you have figured that out, you can buy stickers and the background vellum or paper. You can use glue sticks or I find glue dots helpful although they are a bit more expensive. You can get pretty corners for your photographs and cut a border on the pictures with crazy cut scissors. Its your personal book so theres really no certain way its supposed to be. Whatever you like, whatever creative ideas you have, just incorporate them.

I haven’t really found any freebies without ordering something first. I started getting all kinds of catalogs just from subscribing to magazines like Simple Scrapbooks and Scrapbooking, Etc. I just received an Oriental Trading catalog a couple of days ago dedicated completely to scrapbook supplies. For wedding pictures, I would put them in the attic in a good storage container. Here is a suggestion that my wife has done with multiple scrap books (not necessarily weddings). Scan all of the pictures, and put all of the images on a CD, then get one of the paper envelopes for CD’s and stick it in your photo album. That way whenever you get an urge to look at the photos (even the ones in the album), you can insert it into your computer or DVD player and give them a look. It doesn’t take much room that way, but you preserve the images so that you don’t have to go stumbling around in the attic to find them.
I used to keep mine in 3-ring binders, because most of them came already punched with holes for storage. I recently changed my whole craft area and now use a filing cabinet. I’ve placed the templates in hanging folders, filed by shape: circles, hearts, squares, rectangles, and ovals. I usually know what shape I want before I pull out the templates, so it is just a matter of pulling that file and sizing the template to the photo.

First I would start by looking at the software you are going to use. How comfortable are you with using it? If the answer is not so much, I would recommend getting books and such on the software that will teach you how to do various things. If you are using Adobe Photoshop (CS, Elements, etc.), then you can access Adobe’s website for tutorials and tons of information. They also do a podcast if you are interested in that. I have found those useful. Nothing beats getting to see how someone does something step by step!!If you are using other software, chek out their customer website to see if they offer any how-tos. Many of the various programs have a lot of similarities so even if you don’t have Adobe, you might want to take a gander over there. Once you feel that you have a decent handle on your software I would go to a limited number of websites. Pick one that you feel give you the best directions on how-tos and have a forum to discuss things. Forums are a great chance to interact and get help when you are stuck! They often will also have archieves so that you can look for answers to questions that you have that may have been asked before. I will list a couple examples below of some websites that I have enjoyed for digital scrapping.

I don’t know how they get paid and whatnot though.I think both would be great. I personally prefer non-digital, but to each his own. If your stuff is good, try out both ways. You should choose a scrapbook you like that is not too “froo-froo” and then get a package of that background paper (or buy ones you like separately.) Put all your stuff in the album and just label with a pen or nice marker what all the stuff is or whatever it is you want to say about the page. It is really only a scrapbook if you put like scraps of things and label the items with things such as: “a tissue that Grandpa used at Grandma’s funeral.” or anything like that….For my mom’s birthday last year, I made a scrapbook for her, but it was just photographs arranged in a nice way with pretty background paper and A FEW stickers on eack page. it looks really nice. It is not overdone and there is no texture or anything like that. It is a colorful, nice way to remember things that happened or that you participated in such as your track.dont over or underdo yourself. make it so that it expresses who you are because that is ehat scrapbooking is all about. If you just throw pictures in a book, then years later when you look back at it, you are going to wish that it had more personality to it.I REALLY hope this helped because I am a really slow typer and that just took a very long time to do!! There is also digital scrapbooking, or making a photobook. If you haven’t already made prints, that is a good option for some of them. Blurb and Mypublisher are two sources, also Kodak and Shutterfly make nice photobooks. I like the large scrapbooks with inserts for real scrapbooking. Wish I had more time and space for the real thing!
