Buying Nip Adorable was one of the best investments I ever made. I highly endorse it.

My puppy is way too hyper. He nips too much. Any advice?
Me and my boyfriend got an adorable puppy about a week ago. My 9 week yorkie puppy is really hyper. He is potty trained and all. But he nips and Nip Adorable bites intentionally during the evening times. We've tried everything from growling at him, to tapping his nose to pressing our palms against his mouth, which has worked a bit for the hands but he bites my pants and my feet too! It hurts a lot! He growls back at us and goes into attack stance. Sometimes he gets hurt if im trying to get him off my finger or my leg since I have to push him away. Help =(

This.unfortunately, is a puppy thing. It is always difficult when you have small children and puppies together. The pup jumps and the kids get excited so the pup thinks “Yippee, it’s play time” and starts to jump and bite all the more. The puppy’s teeth are driving him crazy right now and he needs plenty of hard rubber toys and bones to chew to help him cut his teeth.I once saw a demonstration at Crufts of how to get kids to interact with dogs . A group of children were told to stand in a large circle with their arms folded across their chest and not to give the dogs any eye contact whatsoever. About 12 dogs came bounding into the ring and because the children just stood like statues not one of those dogs jumped up at them. They just sniffed around their feet and walked away .It was fascinating to watch.I wonder if you could get your kids to prctise this when your puppy jumps up at them. Arms folded across the chest, no eye contact, and every time the pup leaps at them tell them to just turn their back on him .If he nips them they must give a loud squeal just like his litter mates would do if one of its brothers or sisters gets too rough with him.Let the puppy know that his nipping and biting hurt but always have something to give him as a trade for not biting, e.g. one of his toys or a bone. If everyone is consistent with this the pup should soon learn that jumping and biting is not acceptable and he will start to walk away and play with his toy. This has worked for me with my puppies. It might be worth a try for you.Good luck.

Boston Terriers are the smallest of the bully breeds. They’re stubborn and intelligent– they won’t hesitate to try to be the alpha in the household. As soon as you give him an inch, he’ll take a million miles… but that’s just the terrier in him. He’s still a pup, that’s explaining the chewing and nipping. Did you get him after six weeks? If not, the nipping thing could be a behavioral problem. Biting is a social skill that he learned how to manage through his siblings. They let him know when he was biting to hard– and he for them. Social development (as well as weaning) is another reason to wait the six weeks to adopt.I’m sure he has his own toys, the simplest way to get the chewing to… well, it won’t stop (that whole “puppy” thing)… but when you see him chewing on furniture just say, “Leave it” and give him something that he can chew on instead. Keep that up and eventually he’ll stumble upon a toy he’d rather chew on than the furniture. For the nipping… when he does it while playing say “No.” or make a high pitched annoying noise and walk away ignoring him. Keep this up and eventually he’ll realize “oh, if I’m a jerk… they won’t play with me.” And he’ll stop nipping. Eventually.Good luck!

Not as bad as a turtle, but there would be E coli in that water, contaminated by droppings. Not an excessive amount, but they should avoid getting it in their eyes, or hands, and mouth. The bird is doing a normal thing and is placing your children in grievous harm’s way.No worse than picking up a Hamster or Gerbil, but I bet you wouldn’t like rodents. We have a Budgie, and Gerbil and our Turtle died, and we have children too, who must clean their pets, actually.

your dog is also known as the catahoula cur. Very popular breed in Louisiana. This breed needs a dominant owner. You need to stop the biting right now while he’s young and show him who is boss. If you don’t, he won’t learn that people are higher up in the pack order and you’ll have trouble on your hands. When he nips..grab his snout (not hard) and give him a stern “NO” and put him in a time out away from you. He should eventually learn that this in inappropriate behavior, I will warn you that they are very hard to train (I had one years ago and remember speaking to a neighbor about how the dog still didn’t seem to know it’s own name and she proceeded to tell me how the cajuns train those dogs. I hope she was kidding, but she said they give the cur a command, the dog doesn’t obey, the owner smacks it unconscious, throws water on it to revive it and gives the command again. Repeat as necessary until the dog obeys the command). A military friend of mine took a fancy to mine as a puppy and took him overseas with him. He had a stronger personality than I do and was better suited to own that breed of dog. At the time, I was an 18 yr old dummy who picked the pup up at a shelter and chose him by color rather than by research of the best breed for my situation.

Get her into some classes, talk to a trainer..they really are the ones who know best and are trained in behaviour and nutrition and all that stuff, just make sure the one you talk to is fairly reputable, maybe get some second opinions.

I’m very glad that you have done so much research already. Many of the ferrets who end up in shelters are ones who were bought by people who didn’t know anything about them at the time, and then decided that they were too much of a hassle to take care of.If you haven’t already done so, get a book called “Ferrets for Dummies” it is the best I have ever seen on ferrets and you should go through it with your parents to let them see how ready you are for this responsibility. Also make sure that your parents know that ferrets are much happier in pairs, but I wouldn’t push that right away. If your parents will let you, get one first and make a deal with them where you can get a second at sometime in the near future if you are able to show them how well you can take care of them. There are also quite a few groups on Yahoo dedicated to ferrets where you can get advice and help educate your parents. I help moderate one called Furryfaces2, (feel free to join). As far as keeping smell down goes, empty litter pans each day (at least scooping, with replacing the litter every second or third day). Clean the cage at least once if not several times during the week, but do not bathe the ferrets more than once a month. The more often you wash them, the more oils their skin will produce and that adds to the smell. There are sprays and wipes that you can use on a ferret in between bathing, and there is an additive for their water which will help to reduce the smells coming from the litter box.As I’m sure you’ve read a baby ferret will nip, but that is only because it’s used to only playing with other ferrets and their skin is tougher that ours. Just becareful in training them and make sure to reward them when they are good. One thing that your parents might also be worried about is that when you go to college or move out to an apartment of your own when you get older, you might not be able to take any ferrets with you. Just make sure that your parents know of your commitment to these pets not just now, but in the future also. If your parents say no, don’t push the issue, instead ask them to reconsider in a year or so (I know that might seem a long time to wait, but I had to wait for more than 10 years before I could finally get one).My 4 ferrets are my babies, and I can already see that love of ferrets in you also. I hope that you are able to get them, and good luck!P.S. send any pics when you do get them!
