What does the character Mrs Grossman Mrs. Dubose (the old woman who was addicted to morphine / made Jem read to her) symbolise? Or, alternatively, what things or objects symbolise her?

Hi there! I’ve tried to improvise her face when I didn’t have much make up, so here’s what I did. You’ll need some Baby Powder(Yup! =3)And black eyeliner/makeup. (The only thing I had)Spread your BP on your face+neck. Avoid the area around the eyes. That’s where the eyeliner/makeup will go.As said above- put the eyeliner messily and freely around your eyes. As for hair- if you have black hair- Great!!! Sleep with your hair- use hair gel to mess it up, etc..If you DON’T have black hair, buy a wig! =)I have no other options. =/ Sorry!Hoped it helped, and happy Bday! *squee*EDIT: And if you want some pale lips too- rub a brown smarties against them til’ they look pale enough. =) If you think it’s too dark colored- use yellow smarties… And etc…

You probably have to start with a local contest. Then the winners move on to larger contests.

I don’t know the first story. I think these two sites will help you with A rose for Emily.http://www.answers.com/topic/a-rose-for-emily-story-8http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Rose_for_Emily

Do not try to stereotype her. A real actor finds out how the play would end if their character wrote it, and works towards that.Having said that, Mrs. Meers is a cartoon villain, but a sinister one. She should be very large in her polite inconspicuousness and brevity. This is true of her “Asian” persona. As Ivy Clumpett, she should be quick, broad and cynical. Resist the temptation to go too far, but play with energy.

    1. i’m going to convert everything to inches first. it’d be easier to keep it all in feet but i don’t like it.120in * 60in * 4in = 28,800 cubed inches.28,800/12 = 2,400 cubic feet#2 1,000 g = 1 kg10.00/6.26 = 1.597kg this is how much she can buy in kilograms.to convert to grams, simply multiply by 1,000Jackie can buy 1,597 grams of meat

I think this exchange sums up both their respective characters and their relationship:”Mr. Bennet, how can you abuse your own children in such a way? You take delight in vexing me. You have no compassion for my poor nerves.”"You mistake me, my dear. I have a high respect for your nerves. They are my old friends. I have heard you mention them with consideration these last twenty years at least.”"Ah, you do not know what I suffer.”"But I hope you will get over it, and live to see many young men of four thousand a year come into the neighbourhood.”"It will be no use to us, if twenty such should come, since you will not visit them.”"Depend upon it, my dear, that when there are twenty, I will visit them all.”This is another good passage that shows their relationship with regard to their daughters:”Come here, child,” cried her father as she appeared. “I have sent for you on an affair of importance. I understand that Mr. Collins has made you an offer of marriage. Is it true?” Elizabeth replied that it was. “Very well—and this offer of marriage you have refused?”"I have, sir.”"Very well. We now come to the point. Your mother insists upon your accepting it. Is it not so, Mrs. Bennet?”"Yes, or I will never see her again.”"An unhappy alternative is before you, Elizabeth. From this day you must be a stranger to one of your parents. Your mother will never see you again if you do not marry Mr. Collins, and I will never see you again if you do.”Elizabeth could not but smile at such a conclusion of such a beginning, but Mrs. Bennet, who had persuaded herself that her husband regarded the affair as she wished, was excessively disappointed.”What do you mean, Mr. Bennet, in talking this way? You promised me to insist upon her marrying him.”"My dear,” replied her husband, “I have two small favours to request. First, that you will allow me the free use of my understanding on the present occasion; and secondly, of my room. I shall be glad to have the library to myself as soon as may be.”

I think aunt jemima represents a black woman. Many things represent it as being white as a joke, making it kind of a racist symbol.

I’d say being thrown into the murder showers was a definite weakness.

I don’t think the book mentions anything specific about her death. I would assume that she died of natural causes such as something as simple as age.
