The two responses above are good but don’t be discouraged if the rub-on does not come off right away. If you find that the rub-on is sticking to the plastic sheet, use a little bit of body heat from your hand to help unstick it. Just use your finger to rub the plastic sheet above the rub-on to help release it.After you rub on the design, take the wax sheet that backed it, put it on top of the newly rubbed design and rub over gently it to help secure your rub-on to the paper. This will also help to get rid of any gumminess or stickiness from the rub-on.Be sure to use your rub-ons on a sturdy, firm surface. Doing it on a bed on top of a paper trimmer is not the way to go (wink wink, I’ve done this many times)!Use rub-ons on the paper as an accent or to fill an empty space on a picture. I like to use it to bring attention to a specific spot on a picture or to embellish empty spots on my layouts.Good luck, you’ll get the hang of it.

So it’s just a vellum embellishment. You can buy glue just made for vellum or use brads ( like holes punched near all four corners if item is square/rectangular) to attach it to the page or card you are making. ( I don’t like the glues adhesives for vellum – seems like they always show through…. Do you have a local scrapbook store you can go ask at? Good to see options in person.
Fill up a sheet of copy paper with as many sayings ( leaving a border all the way around ) that you can fit. Make a copy of this on a sheet of vellum paper. Now apply this paper to a sheet of archival adhesive paper which you can get in a craft store. As another answerer mentioned, a Xyron machine is wonderful for this. Run the whole sheet through. Once the adhesive is applied, you can cut out the saying you want to use. You simply peel off the paper backing. This machine might seem expensive in the beginning but if you do a lot of scrap booking, it’s worth the investment. Look for it to go on sale at Michale’s or A.C.Moores or use their 40% off coupon. You can apply the adhesive to anything you want, from ribbons to photographs.
You should check out paper quilling for scrapbooking embellishments…you can make some really cool quilled patterns and its not all that expensive to buy the materials (although not available in most stores, so you have to get online.) Quilling is a great way to embellish your scrapbooks. If you don’t know what it is, its basically coiling thin strips of paper into fun designs like quilled flowers, animals, letters, etc. I discovered it not too long ago and I think its pretty cool and definitely a neat paper embellishment for scrapbooks; plus its pretty unique! I suspect what you’re describing is Clear Laminating Plastic Sheets.There are two kinds, the kind for laminating objects like ID Cards – which requires a heating appliance. Then there is the self adhesive kind that scrapbook collectors use in place of covering their oddbits with ordinary clear plastic cover sheets.You can find Self Adhesive Laminating Plastic in Most Good Stationary stores, or in Graphic Arts supply stores. One brand is simply called “Clear Seal” which comes in packets of 4 sheets in 4″x6″ or 9″x13″.Good luck sweetie, take care!!
